TRIVIA: Which 1979 sci-fi adventure film was directed by George Miller?
Mumble the tap dancing penguin (the voice of Elijah Wood) is faced with problems. His dance-phobic son Erik (Ava Acres) has run away and joined up with The Mighty Sven (Hank Azaria), a penguin that can fly. To make matters worse, a natural disaster has shaken their world. Now it's up to Mumble to unite the penguin nations with their allies to make things right. "Happy Feet Two" is a lethargic sequel that fails to improve on the 2006 original. Director George Miller, who co-directed "Happy Feet", spends too much time on global warming - making it a bit serious for young children. Adults will find very little to be pleased with. There are humorous moments from lovesick Ramon (Robin Williams) and new characters Will the Krill (Brad Pitt) and Bill the Krill (Matt Damon). The antics of the Krills are reminiscent of Scrat from the "Ice Age" series. There is also an element of danger as Mumble must rescue his mate Gloria (voiced by Pink, who replaces the late Brittany Murphy) and hundreds of other penguins who are trapped by a wall of ice and snow. For a change, the 3D effects are involving - adding depth to the spectacular frozen landscapes. But this is not enough to recommend the film for a family get-together. Sadly, "Happy Feet Two" dances on thin ice. |
