CLIPS MOVIE REVIEWS by Roger Tennis On CLIPS In January, 2012 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL
TRIVIA: Which two actors have appeared in all four "Mission: Impossible" movies?
While tracking down dangerous terrorist Hendricks (Michael Nyqvist), Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team are disavowed after being implicated in the bombing of the Kremlin. Now Hunt, Benji (Simon Pegg), Jane (Paula Patton) and reluctant new member Brandt (Jeremy Renner) must race against time to clear their organization's name and save the world from disaster. "Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol" is a frenetically-paced, stunt-filled thrill ride. Leaving the realm of animation, director Brad Bird delivers a live-action adrenalin rush that's not far removed from his CG spectacular "The Incredibles". The stunts rule the screen, with just the minimum of complicated plot to bridge the action sequences. The spy story is worthy of the classic television series and is the best entry in the big screen versions since the first MI movie. The cast members, especially Cruise, are put through their paces against exotic locations ranging from Moscow to Dubai. Robert Elswit's cinematography is absolutely stunning, complementing another brilliant music score by Michael Giacchino. Jeremy Renner is rumored to become the next star of this franchise, but for now the focus is still on Tom. The explosive "Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol" is firmly in Cruise control. |
