ROG'S VIEWPOINT
cameracameracameracamera   (4 CAMS)        RATED PG-13

A black ops team is betrayed by the villainous power-mad Max (Jason Patric). Group leader Clay (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Jensen (Chris Evans), Pooch (Columbus Short), Cougar (Óscar Jaenada) and Roque (Idris Elba) are joined by Aisha (Zoe Saldana) in their quest to hunt down Max and save the team from extinction. Based on a popular comic book/graphic novel series, "The Losers" is an action-packed and enjoyable popcorn thriller. The fast pacing, under the direction of Sylvain White ("Stomp The Yard"), never gives the audience a chance to think about any discrepancies. The movie only slows down for a brief romantic interlude between Clay and Aisha. The cast is good, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan making a stalwart hero. Zoe Saldana is both beautiful and formidable in a role that provides one of this film's most memorable characters. Comic relief comes in the form of Chris Evans, especially in a scene where Jensen is cornered by security guards. Jason Patric has created a villain who needs to be killed - not for his vile acts, but because of the overacting that turns into an almost laughable caricature. There's still more than enough chases and explosions to make up for any flaws. Staying close to its roots, "The Losers" won me over.
