TRIVIA: Which "Toy Story 3" voice actor played James Bond on the big screen? ROG'S VIEWPOINT ![]() ![]() ![]()
(4 CAMS) RATED GAs Andy prepares for college, taking his favorite doll Woody (the voice of Tom Hanks) with him, Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and the rest of the toys are being donated to a day-care center. But this preschool isn't all that it seems and Woody must find a way to rescue his friends. "Toy Story 3" is a hilarious and poignant treat for young and old alike. Director Lee Unkrich and the Pixar staff have created another winner for the only animated movie series that is consistently great. They've even taken this latest adventure to an added dimension, but the surprisingly flat 3D isn't needed. Nothing really jumps out of the screen and this magical film is brilliant without it. Laughter, tears and some truly scary moments place this gem among the studio's finest - easily comparable to Walt's classics like "Pinocchio". Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return with the vocal gang that includes Joan Cusack (Jessie), Don Rickles and Estelle Harris (Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head), Wallace Shawn (Rex), Jodi Benson (Barbie) and John Ratzenberger (Hamm). New additions include Michael Keaton as the fashionable Ken and Ned Beatty as controlling teddy bear Lotso. These voices bring each and every character to memorable life. There's so much going on, with numerous background jokes and more than one homage to past creations, that repeat viewings are inevitable. For added pleasure, another funny Pixar short with a message accompanies the main feature. Falling short of previous efforts, the quirky "Day & Night" has no real plot and depicts a meeting between daytime and nighttime. But the big event is "Toy Story 3". These toys are unbreakable - in a series that will last to infinity and beyond!
