TRIVIA: Anna Faris made her big screen debut in which 1996 theatrical film?
Hoping to find her one true love without starting any new relationships, Ally Darling (Anna Faris) searches among ex-lovers. She gets an assist from handsome neighbor Colin (Chris Evans). "What's Your Number?" is a low-brow comedy that's strictly for rabid fans of Anna Faris and those who want to stare at Chris Evans. Sounds like a date movie, doesn't it? If you desire a couples' night movie that's void of humor and award-worthy acting, look no further. Director Mark Mylod (TV's "Entourage") piles on the sexual content, with just a hint of nudity, to earn the R rating. Based on Karyn Bosnak's novel "20 Times a Lady", this aspiring rom-com feels like an extended SNL skit. SNL regular Andy Samberg shows up as one of the exes to lend credibility to this observation. Joel McHale, Chris Pratt, Zachary Quinto and Thomas Lennon are also among the many lovers. Ari Graynor plays Ally's soon-to-be-married sister Daisy with enthusiasm, but Blythe Danner and Ed Begley Jr. are just barely visible as their divorced parents. "What's Your Number?" is a predictable by-the-numbers screwball farce that doesn't add up to entertaining fun. |
